The Meaning Of Life

There is no meaning in life.

Is there?

I mean, come on, some people say the purpose is to make kids and die?

Others say that the meaning of life is to have fun and live happy?

And then there are people who say that the meaning of life is to get rich or die trying?

Will this discussion ever end? There are more answers to the question of what the meaning of life is than there are people. The amount of ‘meanings’ that life can possibly have is pretty much infinite. So, if that is the case, is there even meaning in thinking about the meaning of life or trying to figure it out?

You see, life might essentially and fundamentally have no meaning. That is probably the most objective explanation that you can get. Life in general might have no meaning and your life might have no meaning either … unless you yourself decide the meaning for your life. The moment you do that, things will start taking shape for you. Things will start to have meaning and your life will start to change because it has meaning and purpose.

Life does not have any meaning unless you yourself decide your own meaning. And until you decide that, your life will be meaningless. Purposeless, unless you choose your own purpose. Why does life have no meaning? Because people themselves are the ones who give their life meaning. And therefore all the answers to “What is the meaning of life?” are personal and subjective.

Give your life meaning, and your life will have meaning.

So how to figure out the meaning for your life? Having meaning in life means that you have:

  • A mission.
  • A purpose.

Without a purpose or a mission your life will not have any meaning. A purpose could be a goal or something else. Think about this:

  • Why are you still alive?
  • Why do you keep staying alive?
  • Is there anything that you value in life that keeps you interested?
  • What do you enjoy doing?
  • What would you regret not having done when it is time for you to die?

Just like your body has a ‘core’, you also have you life’s purpose & mission as the core of ‘you’. If you have a strong sense of purpose and a big mission then you have a strong core. If you have not yet given your life a purpose then you have a weak core and can be easily be swayed from your path by external influences. A person without any purpose or mission is weak and does not have a strong ‘self’. A person without a mission does not have a clear path.

  • Who are you as a person?
  • Who would you like to be?
  • What do you see your life to be like ideally?
  • What do you care about?
  • What do you want to spread & share?
  • What do you want to protect?

Only you can decide the meaning for your life, and you should. It is very difficult to be confident in life and stay strong when you don’t even have core values in place!

What meaning do you give to your life? It is up to you.
